This line of Technics (Panasonic) receivers are just plain beautiful! I swear the light just glows on these. I've had a couple of them and they feature a good tuner section and above average looks, great fit and finish. The series includes: 5770, 5570, 5470, 5370, 5270, 5170 and 5070. The 5270 was on the lower end. It featured 35 watts per channel and a total harmonic distortion of .3%. It retailed for about $280 back in 1977, which in today's dollars is roughly $1000! You can get one for under $50.00 easily.
Dials, meter movments and printed digits are much prettier than red bright meaningless LEDS
ReplyDeleteLove it
ReplyDeleteThis was my first reciver I bought when I was a sophmore in High School. Purchased from Illinois Audio which I would later work for.
ReplyDeleteThey dont make it like that anymore and I wish I still had it.
Just got my SA-5370 back from the repair shop.I bought it in 1977 when I was 19. Wow. The sound I was missing for so many years. The FM has a slight problem but the phono and all other settings work perfectly.Great receiver and better than 90% of the newer ones on the market.
ReplyDeleteI have the 5370 receiver and like it very much. I'm curious about your photo here. The color of the display looks very cool compared to mine, which glows cream colored. I'm using the 12V 150mA Fuse Type Lamps. What are you using to get that cool color, (or is the white balance off on your camera?)
ReplyDeleteI got a technics Sa 5270 and I was wondering if you can hook up a record player up to it or is it just am/fm thank you.
ReplyDeletedid you notice the dial that says phono and aux? you can hook up turntable, tape deck, cd player, etc.
ReplyDeleteI have the 5270 that I bought new in the 70's but have not used in the last 1o years. How can I set this up to play downloaded music?
ReplyDeleteaux lead that becomes a 3mm jack - plug that into your phone or get an alexa mini plug that in instead and play streaming music from it or bluetoothed to your phone.
ReplyDeleteDoes anyone know where I can find light bulbs for the SA-5270? they're 12 volt bulbs but I cannot find them anywhere? there were a couple of sites that referred to switching to LED bulbs but that's not what I want because then you have to install resistors to allow for the voltages to drop for the LED bulbs
